The Canton Aramits was 2015 a constituency in the Arrondissement Oloron-Sainte-Marie in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Aquitaine in France . The last representative on the General Council of the Département was Jean-Claude Coste from 2011 to 2015.

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the "District of Oloron". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Oloron.

geography

The canton bordered the canton of Oloron-Sainte-Marie-Ouest to the north and east , the canton of Accous to the south-east, Spain with the autonomous region of Aragón to the south and the cantons of Tardets-Sorholus and Mauléon-Licharre to the west .
