Artix is a French municipality with 3428 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Artix et Pays de Soubestre (until 2015: Canton Arthez-de-Béarn ). The inhabitants are called Artisien (ne) s .
geography
Artix is located in southwest France in the northern Pyrenees foothills. The river Gave de Pau partially forms the south-western border. Artix is surrounded by the neighboring communities Serres-Sainte-Marie in the north and north-east, Labastide-Monréjeau in the east and south-east, Bésingrand and Pardies in the south, Os-Marsillon in the west and south-west and Lacq in the west and north-west. The A64 autoroute and the former route nationale 117 (today's D817) run through the municipality .
