Mourenx is a French municipality with 6485 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The parish was not formed until 1957. It is the capital of the canton of Le Cœur de Béarn (until 2015: municipality in the canton of Lagor ) in the arrondissement of Pau .
geography
The city is located on the Bayse River about two kilometers before it flows into the Gave de Pau . Other rivers that cross the municipality are the Baysère , the Luzoué and the Geü .
