history
Settlement dates back to the Middle Ages , as evidenced by traces of a former fortification that was lined with ditches and a wall. It probably dates from the 13th or 14th century and was the residence of the manor of Saint-Castin. In the 11th century, the Duke of Gascony gave the village to the Viscount of Béarn as a gift in exchange for the Abbey of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre . The 1385 census of Béarn counted 15 households and the village was part of the Bailliage of Pau. The manor was successively owned by Raymond-Arnaud de Cauna, Menaud de Béarn, Abadie Denguin, Aymeric de Luger and Abbadue de Maslacq, who raised Saint-Castin to a baronate within the Viscount. In the late 18th century, the abbess Marie Anselme de Bourbon directed the fortunes of the village.

- Parish church dedicated to John the Baptist . A simple previous church was donated to the Bishop of Lescar around the year 1000 . In 1873 a new building was built according to plans by the architect Poeyarré, who replaced the earlier church. Four stained glass windows , works by Mauméjean stained glass from Pau, date from 1875. They show Christ crucified with Mary and Mary Magdalene , the apostle Peter , John the Baptist and the Samaritan woman at the well. The parish church of Saint-Castin is also used by the neighboring parish of Bernadets. In 1943 a fire partially destroyed the church, and today's church was rebuilt in 1949 according to plans by the architect Castaing. It has a floor plan in the form of a Latin cross with a nave with a main and two side aisles. The entrance is at the foot of a bell gable . Many pieces of equipment from the 17th to 20th centuries are preserved inside, which are registered as national treasures, including an early 20th century painting by Joseph Castaing from Pau depicting Mary with the baby Jesus .
- Pellizaa Castle. It was built at the end of the 18th century, as evidenced by the year "1789" above the entrance. In the first half of the following century, the outbuildings were enlarged, as evidenced by the year "1836" on the keystone of the porch. The main building has two floors with an attic. A spiral staircase with a stairwell leads inside to the upper floors.
