Anos is a French municipality with 192 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Pays de Morlaàs et du Montanérès (until 2015: canton of Morlaàs ).

The inhabitants are called Anosiens .

Anos is about 15 kilometers north of Pau im Béarn .

Anos is surrounded by the neighboring communities:

Barinque to the east as well
Saint-Armou to the west.

Anos lies in the catchment area of the Adour River . The Lau forms the western border and crosses the Lac d'Anos , the Luy the eastern border of the municipality.

history

Anos was first mentioned in a document in 1243. In the 16th century the place belonged to the Dominicans of Morlaàs .
