Aubin is a French municipality with 239 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Terres des Luys et Coteaux du Vic-Bilh (until 2015: canton Thèze ).

The inhabitants are called Aubinois and Aubinoises .

The place is mentioned for the first time in 1101 as Sanctus Genumer de Albii in the copy book of Lescar, in the 13th century as Elves in the fors de Béarn , a collection of official texts of the Vice-County of Béarn. In 1385, 17 households are counted in a census and it is noted that the village is in the Bailliage of Pau .

Population development

After peaking at 382 residents in the 1830s, the number steadily declined by a total of more than 70% by the 1970s. This trend was reversed in the following years due to the flourishing agriculture and the number of inhabitants has more than doubled since then.
