Gan is a French commune in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Ouzom, Gave et Rives du Neez (until 2015: canton of Jurançon ). Gan has 5510 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The inhabitants are called Gantois . Francis Pèes has been the mayor since 2014.
geography
Gan is located south of Pau on the Nez River , and the Soust borders the community in the northeast . The rivers Les Hiès and Bayse have their source in the municipality . Gan is surrounded by the neighboring communities Jurançon in the north, Rébénacq , Bosdarros and Gelos in the east, Buzy in the south and Saint-Faust , Lasseube and Lasseubetat in the west.
Gan is located in the Jurançon and Béarn wine regions . The national route 134 runs through the municipality . Gan train station is on the Pau – Canfranc railway line .
