Paule Constant (Ch. LH) (born January 25, 1944 in Gan , Département Pyrénées-Atlantiques ) is a French writer.

Life

Paule Constant lived in different countries as the daughter of a military doctor, later with her husband, who ran hospitals in sub-Saharan Africa in the 1960s and 1970s. She is Professor of Literary Studies at the University of Aix-Marseille and was a. a. Visiting Lecturer at Wichita State University . In 2013 she became a member of the award jury of the Académie Goncourt for Robert Sabatier, who died in 2012 . Today she lives in Aix-en-Provence .

Constant published literary essays and reviews. Her novel Confidence pour Confidence was awarded the Prix ​​Goncourt French literary prize in 1998.

Honors

Other literary works were awarded the Grand Prix de l'Essai de l'Académie française 1987, the Grand Prix du Roman de l'Académie française 1990, the Prix ​​Valéry Larbaud 1980 and the Prix ​​François Mauriac 1990.
