Eslourenties-Daban is a French municipality with 332 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Pays de Morlaàs et du Montanérès (until 2015: canton of Morlaàs ).

The name in the Gascognischen language is Eslorentias-Davant . The inhabitants are called Eslourentissois and Eslourentissoises .

Eslourenties-Daban is about 25 km north of Pau in the historic province of Béarn on the eastern edge of the Départemants and borders on an enclave of the neighboring Hautes-Pyrénées .

The basic rule of the village belonged therefore in the 14th century to the Vicomte Gaston Fébus of Béarn. In 1767 the French king gave the village to the abbot of the lay monastery Alexis Ducasse. Eslourenties-Daban was the headquarters of the notary's office in a district around the municipality until the 14th century .

Population development

After a peak in the number of inhabitants at the beginning of the 19th century with around 300 inhabitants, the number fell by more than half with short growth phases until the 1960s, before strong growth began again and the number of residents has more than doubled.
