Ousse ( Occitan : Ossa ) is a French municipality with 1661 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Pau and the canton of Pays de Morlaàs et du Montanérès (until 2015: Canton Pau-Est ). The inhabitants are called Oussois .
geography
Ousse is located in the historic province of Béarn on the river Ousse . Ousse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sendets in the north, Artigueloutan in the east and south-east, Bordes in the south and south-east, Assat in the south and Lée in the west and north-west.
The former route nationale 117 (today's D817) runs through the municipality .
history
Between 1973 and 1989, today's municipality was part of the Idron-Lée-Ousse-Sendets municipality and from 1989 to 2000 the Idron-Ousse-Sendets municipality .
