history
Finds of shards from early history prove the early existence of residents in the area of the municipality. In the later period she crossed a Roman road from Atura ( Aire-sur-l'Adour ) to Beneharnum ( Lescar ), which favored the settlement along this route.
The 1385 census counted twelve households in Garlède and eight in Mondebat. Mondebat belonged to the Bailliage of Pau at this time, while Garlède and Claracq formed a common parish. The landlord of Montdebat was dependent on the barons of Gabaston until 1603 , then connected to Lalonquette, before the Baronate of Montdebat was founded in 1658 in favor of Bernard de Caplane by decree of the French king, which included Montdebat and Lalonquette as well as Garlède. On June 25, 1844, Garlède and Mondebat merged to form the new municipality of Garlède-Mondebat.

Attractions
- Church of Saint-Martin of Garlède-Mondebat, dedicated to Martin of Tours . The original, Romanesque long building was probably built in the 12th century. From this period only is the altar of sandstone left. A side aisle was added at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century . The church was restored in the 19th century. Many of the church's furnishings date from the 12th to 19th centuries and are registered as national cultural assets.
- Mondebat Church, dedicated to the Apostle Andrew . It has many parallels to the Saint-Martin church . The original, Romanesque long building was also built in the 12th century. The aisle was added in the 19th century. In 1964 a sandstone altar came to light, which was probably already in the original church. Many of the church's furnishings date from the 12th to 19th centuries and are registered as national cultural assets.
- Garlède-Mondebat hill fort. It comes from the Gallo-Roman period and suggests that the area was settled during this period, especially since the municipality was crossed by a Roman road. Not far from the villa of Lalonquette, the hill fort could belong to an outbuilding, probably a water mill from the 4th century. Various mosaic fragments have been found at this point.
