Uzein ( Occitan : Usenh ) is a French commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques with 1,232 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . Administratively, it is assigned to the canton of Lescar, Gave et Terres du Pont-Long (until 2015: canton of Lescar ) and the arrondissement of Pau . The inhabitants are called Uzinois .

geography

Uzein is located at the foot of the Pyrenees twelve kilometers north-northwest of Pau in the Béarn wine-growing region . Uzein is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Momas in the north, Aubin in the north and northeast, Caubios-Loos in the northeast, Sauvagnon in the east, Lescar in the south, Poey-de-Lescar in the southwest, Bougarber in the west and Vielle-d'Arthez in the northwest.

The A65 car route runs along the western edge of the municipality .
