Northern Russian ridge
The North Russian Ridge ( Russian Северные Увалы / Severyje Uwaly ) is a mountain range up to 294 m high in the north of the European part of Russia .
The North Russian Ridge, which extends west of the Middle Urals and south of the North Russian Lowlands , is part of the Eastern European Plain . It is located south of the Suchona and Wytschegda rivers and north of the upper reaches of the Vyatka and Kama . The extensive valley of the upper Volga connects to the southwest .
The mountainous landscape of the sparsely populated northern Russian ridge is characterized by hilly and mountainous areas that were carved undulating by the glaciers of the Ice Ages . Several rivers have dug themselves into the ridge, from which Jug , Lusa , Moloma , Syssola and Unscha also arise there.
