The Moloma ( Russian Молома ) is a 419 kilometer long right tributary of the Vyatka north of the Volga region in the European part of Russia .

The Moloma rises in the northern part of the North Russian Ridge (Severnye Uwaly) on the border of the Kirov Oblast to the Vologda Oblast at an altitude of about 180 m . The source, the first several hundred meters and another short section of the river lie on the territory of Vologda Oblast, before turning east and then southeast, flowing through Kirov Oblast for its entire length. The river crosses the central axis of the ridge in a wide valley, maintaining the predominantly southern flow direction until it flows into the Vyatka about eight kilometers above the town of Kotelnitsch - located on the Trans-Siberian Railway - at a height of 80 m .
The most important tributaries of the Moloma are Wolmanga, Wondanka and Kobra from the right and Kusjug and Chubrjug from the left.
Hydrography
The catchment area of the Moloma covers 12,700 km². Near the mouth of the river, the river is over 100 meters wide and over two meters deep; the flow velocity here is 0.4 m / s.
The Moloma freezes between the beginning of November and the end of April. The water flow 196 kilometers above the estuary (at the beginning of the navigable part and above the confluence of larger tributaries such as Wondanka and Kobra) is an annual average of 47.7 m³ / s.
Infrastructure and economy
The Moloma is navigable for 204 km from the settlement of Subor (near Krasnoye).
There are no cities along the Moloma, but along the entire river with the exception of the outermost upper reaches there are a number of smaller towns. The most important are Moloma, Krasnoye, Spasskoye, Kurino and Jurjewo. Forestry plays a particularly important role in the upper and middle reaches.
Jurjewo far is the lower reaches of the Moloma River of the highway Wjatka crosses that of Tscheboksary at the Volga about Oblastverwaltungszentrum Kirov according Syktywkar , the capital city of Republic of Komi leads.
