Water code (Russia)

The water code number ( GKZ ) is an identifier with which all bodies of water are numbered in Russia . It is awarded by the State Water Register (ГВР), an institution established by order (No. 253) of the Russian government on April 28, 2007.

In the version of March 29, 2009, almost 150,000 flowing waters ( streams , rivers , canals , ditches ) and still waters ( lakes , reservoirs , ponds ) are listed.
