The Vyatka ( Russian Вятка , Tatar Нократ / Noqrat, Udmurt Ватка, mari Виче) is a 1314 km long right tributary of the Kama in the east of the European part of Russia .

The river rises at about 58.20 ° north, 52.20 ° east in the Kama Heights in the Russian Republic of Udmurtia , flows northward, makes an arc to the west, and then flows in a south-west through Kirov . Then the Vyatka turns to the southeast to flow into the Kama around 35 kilometers west of Nizhnekamsk .

The Vyatka drains an area of ​​129,000 km². The mean discharge is 890 m³ / s. The Vyatka is the most important river in the Kirov Oblast and - if it is not frozen over - is largely navigable .

From 1780 bis 1934 was Wjatka also the name of the city of Kirov.
