Gusti Bretschneider

Auguste "Gusti" Bretschneider (born July 23, 1908 in Vienna ; † January 25, 2001 there ) was an Austrian writer who mainly wrote books for children and young people.

Life

Auguste Bretschneider was born on July 23, 1908 in Vienna. Especially from the 1940s, shortly after the birth of her son Rudolf, she appeared as an author for children and young people. At the side of the illustrator Margit Doppler , there has been a regular collaboration over the years. Numerous works by Bretschneider were published at least until the 1960s. In 1977, among other things, granddaughter Clara, who later became a psychotherapist, was born. Gusti Bretschneider died on January 25, 2001 at the age of 92 in her hometown of Vienna and was buried at the Hernalser Friedhof in the 17th district of Hernals .

Her son was among others the social researcher and publicist Rudolf Bretschneider (* 1944), whom she had together with her husband Rudolf senior.
