The Route nationale 618 , or N 618 or RN 618 for short , was a French national road from 1933 to 1973 , which ran in ten parts between Argelès-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-de-Luz. It was also known as the Route des Pyrénées . Between the junction south of Laruns with the N134 BIS and Eaux-Bonnes is the former section of the N134 TO A . Between Escot and Bagnères-de-Luchon, the N618 runs along the routes of the Routes thermales established in 1860. In 1949 the N132 was shortened back from its southern end point in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Cambo-les-Bains and the route of the N618 was added. In 1954 she was led from Bagnères-de-Luchon to the Spanish border on the Col du Portillon. The next change came in 1962. It was taken from Lurbe-Saint-Christau to Asasp to the N134 and the Ic38 (later renumbered D238) was added. Its total length was initially 476.5 kilometers, in 1949 the length increased to 510.5 kilometers and then in 1954 to 520 kilometers. In 1962 it sank to 516 kilometers.

Routes thermales

The Routes thermales are roads laid out in the Pyrenees by decree of Napoléon III in 1860. In 1933 they merged with the N618, except for a short section that belonged to the N135. In their course they cross passes that are regularly crossed by the Tour de France.

RT1

The RT1 ran from the N125 in Bagnères-de-Luchon via the Port de Peyresourde (now called "Col"), Arreau (junction with the N129), the Col d'Aspin, Sainte Marie-de-Campan (RT2) to Bagnères-de-Bigorre, where it met the N135. The section between Sainte Marie-de-Campan and Bagnères-de-Bigorre became part of the N135 in 1933, the remaining part and the other RT became part of the N618.

RT2

The RT2 ran from the RT1 in Sainte Marie-de-Campan to the N21 to Barèges over the Col du Tourmalet.

RT3

The RT3 ran from the N21 in Argeles-Gazost to Eaux-Bonnes to the N134bis A over the Col d'Aubisque.

RT3bis

The RT3bis was a side branch of the RT3 in Eaux-Bonnes, which, unlike the other RTs, was not established until 1862 and ran on the Promenade de l'Impératrice.

RT4

The RT4 ran from the N134bis in Arudy to the N134 in Escot.
