The N583 was a French national road from 1933 to 1973, running between the N107 10 kilometers south of Florac and the N107 in Saint-Jean-du-Gard . Their length was 46 kilometers. It represents an alternative to the N107. While it circumnavigated the Corniche des Cévennes to the north, the N107 used a southern route. Later the number N583 was used for a connection from the N83 to the A36 east of Belfort city center. It has had the number D586 since 2006.
