Roberto Petito (born February 1, 1971 in Civitavecchia ) is an Italian racing cyclist .

Petito celebrated his first success in 1994 at the Giro della Romagna . His greatest triumph came in 1997 with the overall victory at Tirreno-Adriatico , where he later won two more stages. At the Giro d'Italia , he finished second once in the same year. In 2005 he finished fifth in the Tour of Flanders in Fassa Bortolo's dress . After moving to Tenax in 2006 , the cobblestone specialist came tenth. In the Four Days of Dunkirk he was able to win a stage at the beginning of May and a little later he became the first Italian to win the overall standings.
