Gran Premio di Lugano
The Gran Premio di Lugano is a Swiss cycle race .
The Gran Premio di Lugano is a one-day race that is based in the Lugano area . It was held for the first time in 1981 and has been held annually since the end of February or the beginning of March, always one day after the younger race, the Grand Prix Chiasso . The years 1999 and 2000 are an exception, when the race was not held. It has been part of the UCI Europe Tour since 2005 and was classified in UCI Category 1.1 until 2014 and 1st HC until 2017. In 2018 the race was again held as an event in category 1.1 .
The record winner is the Italian Marco Vitali , who won the race three times.
