Ruslan Ivanov

Ruslan Ivanov ( Russian Руслан Иванов ; born December 18, 1973 in Chișinău ) is a former Moldovan cyclist .

Career

Ruslan Ivanov began his career in 1998 with the Brescialat-Liquigas team , after he had attracted attention the year before with a 3rd place in the overall ranking of the Baby Giro , the Giro d'Italia for young riders. In his first year as a professional he was Moldovan champion in road racing and individual time trial and also won the pair time trial Grand Prix d'Europa . For the 2000 season he moved to the team Amica Chips-Tacconi Sport , for which he was able to win the Italian one-day race Giro di Toscana and again the national championship in road racing.

After only one year he moved to the Alessio team , where he was to spend his most successful time. In his first year there he won the overall ranking and two stages at the Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali . In 2001 he also secured a stage win at the Regio Tour and at the Giro del Trentino and was able to end this season, his most successful season to date, just outside the top 100 riders in the UCI world rankings . In the next three years with Alessio, Ivanov won the Grand Prix di Lugano , two stages at the Settimana Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali and one part each at the Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda , the Ruta del Sol , the Brixia Tour and the Giro d'Abruzzo .

In 2005 he finally started for the ProTour team Domina Vacanze , but was unable to achieve any noteworthy results other than third place at Veenendaal-Veenendaal . After Domina Vacanze broke up, he couldn't find a professional team for the following season and spent it with the amateurs.

In the 2007 season Ivanov stayed with the Polish Continental Team Amore & Vita-McDonald’s and since the beginning of the 2008 season he has been driving for the Venezuelan Professional Continental Team Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli , in whose jersey he won the overall standings of the Tour de Langkawi for could register. For 2009, however, he no longer received a contract with this team. Instead, on July 1, 2009, he signed a contract with the Hungarian Continental Team Betonexpressz 2000-Limonta for the second half of the 2009 season and the 2010 season.
