Massimo Cigana (born May 5, 1974 in Mestre ) is an Italian cyclist, duathlete and triathlete . He is included in the best list of Italian triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Cigana started cycling at the age of 10 and was able to celebrate numerous national and international successes as a professional cyclist. In 2000 he finished 15th in the Tour de Suisse .

Triathlon since 2003

He started triathlon in 2003 and has been a professional since 2004.

In 2007 he started the long distance at the Ironman Florida for the first time and finished fifth.

In July 2009 he was able to win one of the most difficult long distance races with the EDF Alpe d'Huez triathlon in France (highest transition area in the world in Alpe d'Huez ). In November 2011 he finished seventh at the World Triathlon long distance championship.

In May 2013 he became national champion in the triathlon middle distance.
In the middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) he won the Laguna Phuket Triathlon in Thailand for the fourth time in November 2014 .

In May 2017, he finished ninth at the Duathlon European Championships in the middle distance.

Massimo Cigana now lives in Venice .
