Giro della Toscana

The Giro della Toscana (formerly partially: Giro di Toscana ) (to German Tuscany Tour ) is an Italian cycling race .

The Giro della Toscana is a one-day race that was held for the first time in 1923. The race takes place annually at the end of September in the Italian region of Tuscany . Until 2010, the race was held in late April or early May. The race has been part of the UCI Europe Tour since 2005 and is classified in category 1.1. The record winner is the Italian Gino Bartali with five wins, followed by Francesco Moser with four successes. Rudi Altig won the race from Germany in 1966, the only Swiss so far was Josef Fuchs in 1972.

In 2016 and 2017 the race was held as a stage race and consisted of two stages. As a result, it was classified in category 2.1 . In 2018 the event was again a one-day race and in category 1.1 .

Under the name Giro della Toscana there was another cycle race from 2002 to 2007, which was held as a stage race . The race was part of the UCI Europe Tour and was classified in category 2.2. Only U23 drivers were eligible to participate .

Giro della Toscana (Juniors)

Under the name Giro della Toscana there was also a junior cycle race between 1993 and 2009, which, like the U23 edition, was also held as a stage race.
