Giorgio Zancanaro (cyclist)

Giorgio Zancanaro (born June 15, 1940 in Alessandria ) is a former Italian cyclist .

Athletic career

In 1961, Zancanaro won the Tour de l'Avenir mountain prize category , which was won by his compatriot Guido De Rosso . He also won the 6th stage and was 13th in the final ranking. After winning the Bern Grand Prix and participating in the UCI Road World Championships for amateurs , he became a professional driver in the fall . From 1961 to 1968 he was active as a professional.

At the Giro dell'Emilia he finished second behind Diego Ronchini . In 1962 he was at the start of the Tour de France and was classified as 64th. In 1963 he was able to get third in the Giro d'Italia in the overall victory of Franco Balmamion . He won the 9th stage. He won another stage in the Giro in 1964 . He also won the Giro della Toscana . In 1967 he won the 1st stage of the Giro. He played the Vuelta a España in 1963, but retired.

Familiar

His older brother Ardelino Zancanaro was also a professional cyclist.
