Mario Vicini (born February 21, 1913 in Martorana di Cesena ; † December 6, 1995 there ) was an Italian cyclist .

Mario Vicini was a versatile athlete; In addition to cycling, he also did athletics, soccer and hockey. In 1935 he became a professional cyclist. In 1938 he won the Giro di Toscana and in 1939 the Giro del Lazio , in the same year he became Italian road racing champion .

Vicini started eight times at the Giro d'Italia . In 1938 he won a stage and wore the Maglia Rosa for one day , and in 1939 he came third. In 1940 he won two stages and was fourth, in 1947 seventh.

Vicini, who was considered a mountain specialist, drove the Tour de France twice . In 1937 he was the first to reach the Col d'Allos , finished second in the overall standings behind Roger Lapébie and second in the mountain standings . In 1938 he finished sixth.

After his retirement from cycling, Vicini founded a bicycle production facility in his hometown of Cesena in 1952, which is still family-owned today. The Mario Vicini Memorial is held annually in his honor in Cesena .
