Gilberto Marley

Gilberto Marley (actually Gilbert Finney Marley ; born January 21, 1871 in Great Britain , † December 27, 1939 in Blevio ) was an Italian cyclist and pioneer of timekeeping .

Gilberto Marley was a professional cyclist from 1887 to 1889. During these years he was Italian road champion three times in a row .

In 1921 Marley, who was of Italian-English descent, initiated the establishment of the Sindacato Italiano Cronometristi Ufficiali , an association of "timekeepers", which today as Federazione Italiana Cronometristi (FICr) is an organ of the Italian Olympic Committee CONI . Marley himself was mainly active as a timekeeper in car races, such as the first Targa Florio in 1906, where he approved the start.
