Bruno Leali

Bruno Leali (born March 6, 1958 in Roè Volciano , Brescia ) is a former Italian cyclist and current sports director .

As an amateur , Bruno Leali was third in the military world championships in cyclo-cross racing . From 1979 to 1994 he drove as a professional . In 1985 he won the Giro del Lazio and in 1989 the Settimana Internazionale . In 1987 he won the Trofeo Baracchi together with Massimo Ghirotti . In the same year he won the Coppa Agostoni , which was also rated as the Italian road championship .

Leali started 14 times at the Giro d'Italia . In 1984 he won a stage and in 1993 he wore the Maglia Rosa for three stages . He drove the Tour de France six times , but without outstanding results.

After retiring from active cycling, Leali became the sports director of an amateur cycling team he founded. It hit the headlines in 2010 when, during the Baby Giro , Leali and his team's drivers were raided with unauthorized preparations in their homes; his amateur team Lucchini-Unidelta was excluded from the race. Leali was banned for life by the Italian Olympic Committee ( CONI ) in May 2011 and fined 20,000 euros.
