Giovanni Cuniolo (born January 3, 1884 in Tortona , † December 25, 1955 there ) was an Italian cyclist .

Giovanni Cuniolo was one of the first cycling stars in Italy. He ran as a professional from 1903 to 1913. Three times - 1906 to 1908 - he became consecutive Italian champion in the road race . In 1909 he won the Tour of Lombardy , a stage of the Giro d'Italia, and took third place at Milan – Sanremo , having finished seventh in this 1907 race. Once, in 1908, he also competed in the Tour de France , but gave up after the third stage. In the course of his cycling career, Cuniolo was also able to win numerous smaller races in Italy. He was nicknamed "Manina" (= "little hands") because he did not keep his hands to himself during the tight sprint. His biggest domestic rival was the "red devil" Giovanni Gerbi .

In December 2011, an event in his hometown was held in Giuseppe Cuniolo's honor, as his first national championship was celebrating its 105th anniversary. The descendants of Cuniolo and Gerbi also took part in the meeting. The championship in 1906 is the first "official" professional cycling championship in Italy.
