Severino Canavesi

Severino Canavesi (born January 27, 1911 in Gorla Maggiore ; † January 30, 1990 ibid) was an Italian cyclist and two-time national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

As an amateur, he won the Coppa San Geo in 1929 (one of the most important amateur races in Italy ). Canavesi was a professional driver from 1931 to 1948. He began his career in the Italian team Gloria-Hutchinson . In 1934 he won his first national title when he won the Italian championship in cyclo-cross racing . In 1945 he became the title holder in the road race . Of the famous Italian races, he won the Tre Valli Varesine in 1934 and the Coppa Bernocchi in 1941 . He recorded a total of five victories in his career as a professional driver. He competed nine times in the Giro d'Italia , made it into the top ten of the classification five times and was third in the tour in 1936 and 1938 . Even in classic races such as the Tour of Lombardy and Milan – San Remo , he was able to achieve good placings in third in 1941 and in fifth in 1946.
