Mario Ricci

Mario Ricci (born August 13, 1914 in Padua , † February 22, 2005 in Como ) was an Italian racing cyclist .

Cycling

Mario Ricci was a professional cyclist from 1938 to 1950. His greatest successes were the two victories in 1941 and 1945 in the Tour of Lombardy . In 1943 he was Italian champion in the road race . At the UCI Road World Championships in 1946 in Zurich , he finished fourth and at the Road World Championships in 1947 in Valkenburg fifth.

In 1946 , 1947 and 1948 Ricci decided one stage of the Giro d'Italia for himself. In 1941 he was second and in 1946 third at Milan – Sanremo . In 1945 Ricci won the Trofeo Matteotti and in 1947 and 1949 the Coppa Bernocchi . He also recorded numerous victories and podium places in other Italian races.

From 1968 to 1972 Mario Ricci was active in the sporting direction of the Italian national road team.

Motorsport

Mario Ricci already competed in selected car races during his active time as a racing cyclist and increasingly after the end of his cycling career . He competed several times in the Mille Miglia and was sixth overall in the Carrera Panamericana in a Ferrari 375MM in 1953 . His last outing was at the 5-hour race of Messina in 1956 , where he finished tenth overall on a Gordini .
