Franco Bordoni-Bisleri
Franco Bordoni-Bisleri (born January 10, 1913 in Milan , † September 15, 1975 at Monte Anchetta near Chiavari ) was one of the most successful Italian fighter pilots of World War II . 19 personal aerial victories were confirmed to him, and more were "collectivized" (i.e. awarded to his unit) according to the practice of the Italian Air Force .
Life
Bordoni-Bisleri was the offspring of a northern Italian industrial family. In his youth he was enthusiastic about motor racing . Because he had not initially been accepted as an officer candidate in the Italian Air Force , he acquired a private pilot's license in 1936 . The Regia Aeronautica then accepted him as a reserve officer candidate and granted him a military pilot's license in 1937. Bordoni-Bisleri first became a bomber pilot, then a fighter pilot with the 3rd Squadron. In 1937 he was again adopted into civilian life.
After his reactivation, Bordoni-Bisleri came back to his old squadron in June 1940 and fought with it, especially in North Africa. In 1941, he shot down four Bristol Blenheim bombers and a Hawker Hurricane using outdated Fiat CR.42 biplanes . In 1942 he flew the Macchi MC.202 , with which he a. a. shot down six Curtiss P-40s . With the modern Macchi MC.205 Bordoni-Bisleri took part in the fierce aerial battles over southern Italy in 1943, where he shot down six Boeing B-17s and one Martin B-26 .
After the war, Bordoni-Bisleri ran his family business and also dedicated himself to motorsport and aviation . He became president of the Milan Aeroclub in Bresso .
On September 15, 1975, on a flight from Rome to Milan with his Aermacchi SF 260, he was caught in a severe storm and had a fatal accident with his ten-year-old son Francesco and a friend.
