The 5-hour race of Messina 1956 , also 5 Ore di Messina , took place on August 26, 1956 on the Circuito di Ganzirri . The race was not part of any racing series.

The race

In the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, long-distance races for sports cars with driving times of up to 10 hours took place at the Circuito di Ganzirri near Messina in Sicily . In 1956, a 5-hour race was announced on the 6.7 km long circuit, which the Ferrari factory driver Phil Hill won in a Ferrari 500TR .
