Gerino Antonio Achille Gerini (born August 10, 1928 in Rome , † April 17, 2013 in Cremona ) was an Italian racing driver.

Career

As a close friend of Jean Behras , he was able to afford a private Maserati 250F from Officine Alfieri Maserati in 1956 . He achieved his best result in the 1956 Automobile World Championship at the Argentina Grand Prix in Buenos Aires , when he shared the monoposto with Brazilian driver Chico Landi and achieved fourth place.

The notorious chain smoker Gerini only returned to some races in the Formula 1 circus two years later . However, his car was now technically obsolete and did not allow him any presentable results, so he said goodbye to motorsport .

Then he went into the auto trade; he opened Lamborghini branches in Italy , the Netherlands and Switzerland and lived in his house in Florence until his death .
