The Scuderia Centro Sud was a motorsport team from the 1950s and 1960s.

The Scuderia

Scuderia Centro Sud was founded in the early 1950s by the Italian Mimmo Dei . Originally intended as a racing team for the sports car world championship , in which the team took part from 1956 to 1965, team owner Dei soon expanded its activities to include Formula 1 as well.

With vehicles like the Ferrari 500 , the Maserati 250F and the BRM P57 as well as various makes of Cooper , the team achieved a total of 24 world championship points. The best individual result was third place at the 1957 Monaco Grand Prix , achieved by Masten Gregory . With the engagement of Maria Teresa de Filippis , the Scuderia also made it possible for a woman to compete in a Formula 1 world championship race for the first time.

World-famous pilots such as Cliff Allison , Giancarlo Baghetti , Lorenzo Bandini , Lucien Bianchi , Joakim Bonnier , Louis Chiron , Masten Gregory , Hans Herrmann , Willy Mairesse , Maurice Trintignant , Wolfgang von Trips and Luigi Villoresi drove for the Scuderia.
