Gianni Faresin (born July 16, 1965 in Marostica , Vicenza province , Italy ) is an Italian sports director and former cyclist .

Gianni Faresin was a professional from 1988 to 2004 . His greatest successes were victories at the Tour of Lombardy in 1995 and the Italian championship in road racing .

Faresin started three times in the Tour de France . In 1993 he finished eleventh overall, in 1994 he gave up and in 1999 he finished 29th. Twelve times he competed in the Giro d'Italia ; his best placement was sixth in 1998 . At the Tour de Suisse in 1996 he finished second. In 1997 he was sixth at the Vuelta a España and in 2000 he won the intermediate sprint classification. He also celebrated victories in smaller races, such as the Gran Premio Città di Camaiore in 1991 , the LuK Cup in 2000 and the Trofeo Matteotti in 2001 .

In 2004, Gianni Faresin's name appeared on the customer list of Michele Ferrari, known as a doping doctor . Shortly thereafter, Faresin ended his cycling career at the age of 39 and became the sporting director of the Gerolsteiner team , for which he last rode. He later became the sporting director of the U23 team Zalf Euromobil Désirée Fior .
