Michele Dancelli (born May 8, 1942 in Castenedolo , Province of Brescia ) is a former Italian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Dancelli holds the probably unusual record of having been called up to the Italian national team as a 17-year-old when he was used in the West Berlin four-stage race of the amateurs in 1959 and a sensational, but at the time not particularly noted 4th place in overall ranking. In 1963 he made his breakthrough by winning the Italian Amateurs Road Championship.

He began his professional career that same year and won 3rd place at the autumn classic Giro di Lombardia . Dancelli drove in the MOLTENI team with Gianni Motta and Rudi Altig until 1966 , after which he was one of the fastest Italian team captains of the Pepsi-Cola, Molteni, SCIC and Dreherforte racing teams. He was active until 1974 at the age of 32 and achieved a total of 81 victories.

Dancelli was successful in both stage races and one-day races. He was able to win eleven stages of the Giro d'Italia and took top places in the overall classification: in 1970, when he wore the Maglia Rosa for 14 days , he was fourth, in 1969 sixth and in 1968 seventh. He only competed once in the Tour de France in 1969, won a stage and finished 20th in the final ranking. He was also in the Italian semi-classics Giro dell'Appennino 1965, 1966 and 1967, the Giro dell'Emilia 1965 and 1967, the Giro dell Veneto 1965 and 1966, as well as the Giro dell Calabria 1966 and 1968, the Giro dell Lazio 1966 and 1970 and the Giro dell Campania 1965 successful. Dancelli had his most important victories at Milan-San Remo , the Walloon Arrow and at Paris-Luxembourg. He won the Italian professional road championships twice (1965 and 1966) and came third at the road world championships in 1968 and 1969, sixth in 1972, seventh in 1967 and seventh in 1971. In other World Championship participations he was also able to place in the front field: In 1965 Dancelli was 27th, 1966 at the Nürburgring 14th and 1970 18th.
