Guillaume Martin (born June 9, 1993 in Paris ) is a French racing cyclist .

Cycling career

As a junior driver, Martin won a stage of the Nations Cup race Course de la Paix . In 2015 he won the U23 event of the classic Liège – Bastogne – Liège and a stage of the Tour de l'Avenir , a competition of the UCI Nations' Cup U23 .

As a result, he received a contract with the Professional Continental Team Wanty-Groupe Gobert from the 2016 season , for which he was his first Grand Tour with the Tour de France 2017 . When he reached the mountain of the eighth stage , he was third of the day and finished the Tour of France in 23rd place overall. In the following August he won a stage of the Tour du Limousin and thus his first international elite race. This was followed by overall victories in the Tour du Gévaudan Languedoc-Roussillon , Giro della Toscana and, in 2018, at the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe .

Philosophy studies

Martin successfully graduated from the University of Nanterre with a degree in philosophy .
