The 50th Tour du Limousin 2017 was a French road bike race in the Limousin region . The stage race took place from August 15th to 18th, 2017 . It was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2017 and classified there in category 2.1 .
Overall winner was the Frenchman Alexis Vuillermoz from AG2R La Mondiale .
Elie Gesbert (France / Fortuneo) and Flavien Dassonville (France / Auber 93) drove away from the field a few kilometers after the start and were able to develop a maximum advantage of 5:25 minutes. 25 kilometers from the finish, the lead was still 3:20 minutes, there was a mass crash in the field and so the duo came through at the front and won the stage among themselves. In the uphill leading final, Gesbert proved to be the stronger driver of the two and won the stage with an eight-second lead over Dassonville. The defeated field followed 18 seconds behind. Gesbert also took over the overall management.
Bryan Coquard (France / Direct Energie), Ángel Madrazo (Spain / Delko Marseille-Provence KTM), Oscar Riesebeek (Netherlands / Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij), Fabien Canal (France / Armée de Terre), Fabien Doubey sat on the second stage (France / Wanty-Groupe Gobert) and Aitor Gonzalez (Spain / Euskadi Basque Country-Murias) and got a lead of 3:30 minutes. The outliers were recovered in time for the final. On the ascent towards the goal, Alexis Vuillermoz (France / AG2R) set himself apart from his pursuers and won the stage. Gesbert retained overall leadership.
On the third stage, a group of ten drivers drove away with Philipp Walsleben (Germany / Observer), Cyril Gautier (France / AG2R), Thomas Degand (Belgium / Wanty) and Nicolas Edet (France / Cofidis). With 20 kilometers to go, she still had a three-minute lead over the field. In the end, the escape group came through. Gautier won the sprint of the breakaway group ahead of Degand and Edet. The peloton followed 1:19 behind the finish line with overall leader Elie Gesbert. Gesbert defended the overall lead.
On the fourth stage, a quartet, including Philipp Walsleben, was at the head of the race until about 80 kilometers from the finish. Then attacked Guillaume Martin (France / Wanty) and his teammate Jérôme Baugnies together and were able to settle from the field. 35 kilometers from the finish they had a lead of 2:30 minutes. They were able to save a 19-second lead at the finish and Baugnies left the stage win to his French team-mate Guillaume Martin. On the way, Alexis Vuillermoz secured bonuses, which is why he caught Elie Gesbert in the overall standings. So Alexis Vuillermoz from AG2R won the entire tour.
