St. Christophorus in Gehrde

St. Christophorus in Gehrde is the parish church of the parish of St. Christophorus Gehrde, which belongs to the Bramsche parish of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover .

Building history and description

The church was built in the 14th century as a hall with three rectangular yokes , a straight closed choir and a square west tower made of Ueffeln quarry stone . The three-tier, baroque tower dome dates from 1740. In 1822, the choir was expanded by a five-eighth closure .

The nave is equipped with a late Gothic cross rib vault . The ogival tracery windows have been widened in the north wall in their original state and in the south wall around 1900. A sacristy is located north of the eastern nave yoke .

Interior

The oldest piece in the church is the Romanesque baptismal font , which was made from Bentheim sandstone in the 13th century and is similar to that of St. Servatius Church in Berge . A fork cross with a body height of around 1.60 meters dates from around 1290 .

The two-story wooden altar was made in 1718 using parts from the 17th century. The pulpit dates back as 1718 as a brass - chandeliers . The western gallery parapet with the pictures of the apostles on it was also made around 1720.
