Donald John Allan (born September 24, 1949 in Melbourne ) is a retired Australian cyclist .
Athletic career
In 1972 Donald Allan started at the Olympic Games in Munich and finished 58th in the road race , while he was 17th in the team time trial with the Australian team ( Jose Graeme , Clyde Sefton , John Trevorrow ). In 1973 he won one stage each of the Tour of Austria and the International Peace Tour . Until 1977 he started for the Dutch team Frisol , for which he also took part in the Tour de France twice.
Allan then focused on six-day races . Between 1976 and 1986 he contested 107 six-day races, of which he won 17. With 15 wins he teamed up with Danny Clark . In 1976 the two drivers also won a silver medal together at the European championship in two-man team driving .
His younger brother was David Allan , who was killed in a car accident in 1989; his cousin is the former cyclist Peter Besanko .
