Danny Stam

Danny Stam (born June 25, 1972 in Zaandam ) is a Dutch sports director and former cyclist .

Cycling career

Danny Stam began his professional career, during which he was mainly active on the track , in 2000 with the AXA Cycling Team . At the UCI Track World Championships in 2004 , he and his compatriot Robert Slippens won the bronze medal in Madison . A year later, the two world championship runners-up in the same discipline, and European championship runners-up in 2003 and 2006; In 2009 Slippens and Stam won bronze at the European Championships. They were also successful together in ten six-day races . In total, Danny Stam contested 116 six-day races, of which he won 16.

From 2006 Stam drove for the Dutch Continental Team Ubbink-Syntec . In the following winter he drove with Peter Schep , as Slippens had a serious fall in the summer and a little later resigned as a racing driver. At the end of the 2011/2012 winter season, Danny Stam also announced his retirement from active cycling. Since the beginning of the 2012 season he has been the sporting director of the women's cycling team AA Drink-leontien.nl .

Danny Stam is the son of four-time stayer -Weltmeisters Cees Stam and married to the former cross-country rider Corine Dorland .
