Zurich six-day race
The Zurich Six-Day Race was a traditional cycling event in Zurich - Oerlikon , which was held for the first time in 1954 and most recently in 2014.

In Hallenstadion already in 1939 cycling race were held, but the first Zurich six-day race was not carried out until the 1954th It took place regularly until 2001, when it was discontinued due to a lack of viewers and financial problems. In 2006, however, it was relaunched by the old cyclists Max Hürzeler , Urs Freuler and the organizer Ueli Gerber. The six-day race traditionally took place between mid-November and mid-December. In 2006/07 and 2007/08, however, the bike race took place over the turn of the year. The drivers celebrated New Year's Eve in the hall.
Since 2011, the six-day race in Zurich has only lasted four evenings, which is why the event has been called "Sixday Nights" since then.
In addition to the professional races such as Americaine , time trials , elimination races and standing races , an extensive show program was offered. Since 2009, the exhibition has been attractively expanded with all the innovations in cycling.
The record winner in the Zurich six-day race is the Swiss Bruno Risi with eleven wins, followed by his long-term partner Kurt Betschart and Fritz Pfenninger with seven wins each. The record participant with 21 starts is Klaus Bugdahl from Berlin .
From 2011 the event was called Sixday Nights Zurich , as it only took place on four instead of six days, from Wednesday to Saturday. In February 2015, the organizers announced that the 2014 event would be the last, as the financial burden had become too high.
