Kay Werner Nielsen

Kay Werner Nielsen (born May 28, 1921 in Aarhus ; † March 13, 2014 ) was a Danish track cyclist .

Kay Werner Nielsen was one of Denmark's dominant professional track cyclists in the endurance area from the 1940s to the 1960s. He won 13 national titles in the pros' single pursuit . At the UCI rail world championships in 1951 in Milan he was third in this discipline, and two years later at the rail world championships in Zurich . In 1956 in Ordrup he was third again in front of a home crowd.

Nielsen also started in 56 six-day races, of which he won 14, eight of them with his compatriot Palle Lykke . After the end of his cycling career in 1961, he was president of the professional division of the Danish Cycling Federation for some time. From 1977 to 1983 Nielsen was sports director at Forum Copenhagen . He died on March 13, 2014 at the age of 92.
