Werner Wägelin (born August 7, 1913 in Zurich ; † February 28, 1991 there ) was a Swiss cyclist .
Werner Wägelin was active as a cyclist from the mid-1930s to the mid-1940s. Four times - in 1932, 1933, 1935 and 1936 - he was Swiss champion in the amateur sprint . In 1936 he started the sprint at the Olympic Games in Berlin and was eliminated in the quarterfinals against the Italian Benedetto Pola .
Then Wägelin became a professional driver. In 1939 he started in the Tour of Germany and placed several times at the top in stages. He rode the Tour de Suisse three times - in 1939 , 1941 and 1942 - but only crossed the finish line at his last start in 1942, the 39th and last. In 1944 he won the Swiss professional sprint title. In 1946 he finished second in the national championship in the standing race .
