Kurt Rechsteiner

Kurt Rechsteiner (born January 8, 1931 in Speicher ( Ausserrhoden )) is a former cyclist from Switzerland and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Rechsteiner began cycling in 1948. In 1951 he had his first major success with third place in the national championship in the track sprint . He remained a specialist in short-distance racing throughout his career. In 1952 he won the sprint championship in Lausanne . He was able to win the title again in the championship races from 1959 to 1960. He won second places in the title fights from 1954 to 1956, he was third in 1952, 1953 and 1957. Between 1952 and 1960 he competed regularly at the UCI World Railroad Championships . At the Olympic Summer Games in Rome in 1960 he also took part in the sprint, where he was eliminated in the hope run against the Australian Ron Baensch . At the end of 1961 he ended his career.

Professional

Rechsteiner completed an apprenticeship as a banker.
