Daniel Wyder became the Swiss junior road champion in 1980. In 1983, he took third place in the Championship of Zurich the amateurs . In 1984 he turned professional. After minor successes in various road races , he won the championship title in points driving in 1988 . Once he was Swiss champion on the track; In 1988 he won the title in the singles pursuit .
In 1989 Wyder took second place with Bruno Holenweger at the professional winter track championship in two-man team driving in Gent . In 1989, the two drivers jointly finished third in the Cologne six-day race . In the same year Wyder won the Tour of the Americas . In 1992 he ended his cycling career.
