Max Wirth (cyclist)

Max Wirth (born December 9, 1930 ) is a former cyclist from Switzerland and Swiss champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Active since 1951, Max Wirth qualified in that year for what was then the A-class of amateurs in Switzerland. In 1952 he took part in the team pursuit on the track at the Olympic Summer Games in Helsinki . His team took 5th place. After he had mostly contested track races , he became a professional driver in November 1955. As such, he was second in the championship races in the single pursuit from 1956 to 1958 (as well as in 1952 as an amateur). In 1959 he managed to win the title. A year later and in 1961 he was again third in the championship. In 1964 he ended his career, although he still held a license as a professional driver for some time.

Professional

Wirth completed an apprenticeship as an electrician .
