UCI Road World Championships 1929

The UCI Road World Championships 1929 took place on August 16 and 17 for the second time since 1923 in Zurich .

Race course

Both the professional racing drivers and the amateurs had to cover a distance of 200 kilometers. Georges Ronsse from Belgium won the professional drivers . He won the sprint out of a top group of five with an hourly average of 29.4 kilometers. There were only 16 drivers at the start, none of them German. Alfredo Binda said about the World Cup: "Too easy and too short."

The new amateur world champion, the Italian Pietro Bertolazzi , only reached 27.3 km / h. It was dominated by the Italian riders, who achieved only third place in the professional category, but in addition to the world and runner-up champions, two other athletes made it into the top ten.
