Ambrogio Portalupi

Ambrogio Portalupi (born January 25, 1943 in Marcignago , † January 5, 1987 in Pavia ) was an Italian cyclist .

Portalupi began his career as a professional driver in early September 1964 at the age of 23 with the Italian team Ignis . In 1966 he won a stage and the overall ranking of the Tour de Suisse with a narrow lead of 12 seconds. In 1969 he won the GP Valsassina and another stage of the Swiss national tour. He started twice each in the Tour de France and in the Giro d'Italia , but without reaching a leading position. After the 1971 season Portalupi ended his career in which he was able to record a total of four victories as a professional driver. He died in 1987 at the age of 43.
